FSPCA

The Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA) requires the implementation of a food safety plan managed by at least one Preventive Controls-Qualified Individual (PCQI).

The FSPCA developed curriculum for several different courses. I am a lead instructor in the Preventive Controls for Human Foods (PCHF) and the Foreign Supplier Verification Program (FSVP). We should probably make that distinction as we are going to hold a Preventive Controls for Human Foods course and a Foreign Supplier Verification Program course. The FSVP is a 1.5 day course. The agenda overview for the Preventive Controls regulation looks good, for the FSVP it is the following:

Our program will provide the tools for you to complete the requirements for becoming a preventive controls qualified individual, including:

  • Understanding Biological, Chemical, and Physical Food Safety Hazards
  • Understanding Process, Allergen, Sanitation and Supplier Preventive Controls
  • dentifying resources needed to develop and implement a Food Safety Plan
  • Understanding Recall program requirements
  • Understanding Hazard Analysis and Preventive Controls Determination

Covance's Preventive Controls for Human Food course is approved by the Food Safety Preventive Controls Alliance (FSPCA).The cost of the two and a half day session is $850.
